Dipperstar swiped a paw after Whisperpaw, aiming for his ears. He wouldn't use any moves other than the basics and what he had thaught Whisperpaw already, to make it a somewhat fair fight. He was still more experienced and much stronger, so he had to take it more easy than he would have done otherwise. He slowed down some more, letting Whisperpaw get just enough time to go through with his final attack, hoping he would use the little time he was given well.

Whisperpaw quickly splayed his legs out beneath him, barley missing getting his ears shredded. He quickly jumped to his feet and dashed in quickly toward his face. He knew in battle you weren't supposed to kill your opponent if he could help it.so he didn't aim for mthe neck, he sprang forward, his paw aiming for dipperstar's cheeck and jaw. He wanted to strike quickly and retreat in case he reattacked, then striKe once more to finish it if this attack didn't.

Dipperstar followed Whisperpaw with his eyes and lept away from the attack. "That's enough," he meowed, sounding impressed. "You did very well for your first day. I'll teach you some more moves tomorrow." He looked at the sky for a brief moment. The sun was sinking down and soon it would grow darker. "We better get back to camp. Know what? You should tell Lynxpaw to come with us tomorrow. That should be good for both of you," he said, flicking his tail before starting on the way back home.

Whisperpaw nodded, excited to continue training tomarrow. and it would be his first time with another apprentice. They might fight eachother for practice, and he could try his skill with an opponent who was more his size. Not that it wasn't amazing to be challenged by his leader. He smiled smugly as he padded after Dipperstar towards camp. Maybe now that he had fought a seasoned warrior, battling a felllow apprentice won't seem as hard.

Dipperstar padded with swift steps back home to camp. Todays training had been more fun than he had expected and he hoped Whisperpaw would continue to learn at the same speed as he had shown today. If he did, he would become a fearsome warrior one day. "You may take your pick of the fresh kill pile," Dipperstar said as he padded into camp. "Take the rest of the day off and tell Lynxpaw I want both of you to be in the training field tomorrow at sunrise. Oh, and you may hunt on the way there." He flicked his tail to dismiss Whisperpaw and padded to his den where he lay down to watch the clan and rest.

Whisperpaw nodded rapidly and padded over to the fresh kill pile. Even though he hated to admit it, he was starving and exhausted. Training had taken a lot out of him, but he eenjoyed it immensely. He inspected the pile and chose a plump sparrow after little decision and padded over to a shady spot to eat it. Once he had devoured his dinner he gazed around camp searching for the other male apprentice. Lynxpaw looked exactly like the animal of his name, and he was much bigger than whisperpaw since he began training before him. After seeing no sign of him, he assumed he was already in the apprentice den, so he stood and padded over there, searching for the apprentice.

Lynxpaw was digging through his nest, picking out stray twigs that had been poking him during the night. "Stupid twigs, what I would give for a pile of goose feathers! Now THAT would be wonderful," he commented to himself as he gathered the rest of the twigs into a pile. He shoved the pile outside the den and sat down with a sigh, wishing Pinefur was around so they could work on some more battle moves together. He stood up when he saw Dipperstar and Whisperpaw come back into camp, at least someone in the camp had had their training today.

Whisperpaw smiled when he found lynxpaw picking through his nest. "Lynxpaw," He held his head high and arrogantly like he always did, even though he held no position higher than the older apprentice and lynxpaw could probably squash him if he wanted to. Whisperpaw had never paid much attention to the apprentices until he became one. but now that he was sharing a den with them, he thought he should try to get to know them. "Dipperstar wants us to train together tomarrow."

Lynxpaw shook his head, Whisperpaw could be a real mousebrain when he wanted to; acting like he was Starclan's gift to the clan. But if Dipperstar wanted them to train together, he would comply with the clan leader's wishes. He lowered his front half and did one long and satisfying stretch, then proceeding to stretch his legs before nodding to Whisperpaw and heading towards the fresh-kill pile while holding his own head high in the air and his stumpy tail twitching the entire time.

Whisperpaw narrowed his eyes as the other apprentice simply nodded and strut past him. quite a conversationalist, he thought snidely. some day, he'd be the best warrior in all the clans and no one would be able to walk past him without stopping and staring in awe. He sat tall and puffed out his chest at the thought, building himself up once more. He stood, gazing around the den and the rest of camp. he walked out, his little head held high. maybe the other apprentices would be friendlier.
