"I thought the same thing," Dipperstar said. "There's practically no current, so how they both cpuld have been carried away... that can't happen. There must be something else. Maybe rogues." He started walking downstream along the river bank, searching for scents, but after a while he raised and shook his head. "Not a trace of anything," he sighed. "We're heading back, and wherever they are, we can only hope they'll be alright." Looking defeated he started back towards camp.

Sootclaw glanced at his leader noticing the defeated expression and shook his head slightly. "I'm sure there fine, A medicine cat and the deputy surely know how to take care of each other. I'm sure they'll make there way back to us soon!" he said, trying to sound more optimistic as he watched Dipperstar walk away defeated. Sootclaw frowned and followed after him silently, his brain whirring at the idea of his missing clan mates.

Dipperstar glanced at Sootclaw. "Yes, you're probably right. They're both skilled cats, so if they're together they'll be okay." His eyes glimmered with a faint sign of hope. "I'll give them some time to get back home, and I'll tell the clan what happened when we get back." He took the lead again and padded back toward their camp. The sky was darkening now, the final light from the sun barely showing in the horizon as Dipperstar walked in among the rocks at the entrance. Some Starclan warriors could be seen already and he sent a silent prayer to them, hoping they would watch over the missing cats. He didn't waste any time before he lept onto the log and called for a meeting for the second time that day. "We couldn't find them or any sign of where they could be," he said to his clan. "The tracks lead to the river, but after that... The good news is that they seemed to have been together and there were no signs of a battle." He knew this could mean that they had been picked up by something before they had the time to react, but he didn't want to share his concerns with the clan. "I believe that they will come back eventually, so I will no appoint a new deputy, but someone has to take care of Mintblossom's duties while she's gone. Sootclaw." He looked at the tom. "Will you take the responsibility as a temporal deputy?"

Sootclaw nodded as he followed after Dipperstar, his eyes up to the sky as he watched the sunset slowly turn to the night. Sootclaw sat a ways away from the log, almost to the back of the group as cats slowly appeared. His eyes widened despite himself as he stared blankly at Dipperstar for a moment before he nodded. "I'll take over until Mintblossom comes back. You guys can count on me even if it's only for a short while." he said said quietly before gaining confidence near the end as he glanced around nervously.

Dipperstar gave Sootclaw a short nod. "Good. As for Stormcloud's tasks- We just have to help each other out the best we can and try our best to avoid fights with the other clans." For once he was thankfull for Sunclan's shortness of prey and water. The other clans would have little to no reason for trespassing. "All the patrols will have to keep an eye open for both of them and any peciluar activity by every border and report straight to me if you see anything. I'll give them a moon to get back, but after that we can't wait any longer." With that he ended the meeting and lept down from the log. He flicked his tail to beacon Sootclaw.

Sootclaw nodded, his tail flicking back and forth in a nervous manner as Dipperstar finished his announcement. Inside he was hoping none of the other clans would attack. An attack now would prove even worse than fatal. Many could be lost, the absence of the medicine cat was always a scary though. Sootclaw rose to his paws and trotted forward to Dipperstar quickly after the beckoning. "Yeah?" he asked staring past Dipperstar and at a small rock to avoid the eye contact.

Dipperstar drank the scents of the night and waited until the rest of the clan had gone back to their tasks or dens before he spoke. "If there's still no sign of them by tomorrow, I will travel to the crystal cave," he said. "We need all the advice we can get right now. I want you to come with me, and ask Lynxpaw aswell. It will be good experience for him." He sat still, waiting for a response from Sootclaw. He knew some cats would be frightened by getting too close to Starclan, so he wouldn't force him to go.

Lynxpaw signed nearby as he slowly finished the mouse he had in front of him. It was a scrawny mouse, the smallest one in the pile. He figured that his other clanmates would need the bigger prey more than he would, though his size required more nutrition than most.
Finishing his meal, the young apprentice looked around with a sigh. Everyone seemed really upset with the disappearence of Minblossom and Stormcloud. Lynxpaw was still learning the ways of the warrior, but he knew the importance that the Deputy and Medicine Cat held within the clan. After all, what would happen to the clan if cats started getting sick with no medicine cat?

Sootclaw's eyes crackled with electricity at the idea of being near his ancestors. Would they be ashamed of how nervous he was instead of acting like a true warrior? He never let his lack of confidence ebb away any skills during battles when protecting his clan was truly important..right? He swallowed chasing away any of the thoughts that could plague his mind with doubts and nodded, "Sure thing, I'll come but what will the clan do with both the leader and fill-in deputy gone?" he asked as he glanced at each of the dens.

(It's just for the sake of getting more rping on the site "It'll be fine," Dipperstar meowed. "They are good cats and if you sort out the patrols by the time we leave, they will know what to do. Besides, I need a reliable cat to come with me." He knew Sootclaw could be a bit jumpy, but he trusted his loyalty completely. "Could you go and tell Lynxpaw?" he said and looked at the apprentice who sat out in the open by himself, then he turned and started to walk away. "I'll be in my den if you need me."
