Dipperstar padded out of his den and looked around camp. The morning was cool and quiet, but soon the other cats would wake up and start their daily activities. He found a mouse on the fresh kill pile and finished it quickly, before he was starting his tasks of the day. But he was not going to make an anouncment today, and at least not this early. Instead he walked over to the apprentice den and poked his head inside. "Lynxpaw," he called in a hushed voice, making sure to not wake up the other apprentices.

Lynxpaw rolled over in his nest, mumbling something about mice disappearing down into the hole before he could catch them. Hearing the clan leader's voice, his eyes slowly blinked open and squinted to where Dipperstar stood at the entrance trying to get his eyes to adjust to the change of light. Trying not to step on anyone's tail as he weaved his way around the other apprentices, Lynxpaw slipped out of the den and stood next to Dipperstar. "Y...yes clan leader? Did I do something wrong?" The young apprentice wondered if he really had done something wrong, or the clan leader simply wanted to do some training with him.

"No, you did nothing wrong. I'm going to be your mentor for a few days," he said, giving the young apprentice a reassuring look. He waved his tail, telling Lynxpaw to follow him as he walked away from the apprentice den. "I heard you haven't had any battle training yet, so that's what we're doing today." He pinted to the fresh kill pile. "But first you should eat something." Dipperstar left Lynxpaw and padded to the exit where he sat down, waiting for him to finish his meal.

Lynxpaw breathed a sigh of relief, there could have been nothing worse than to be woken up by the clan leader himself to personally give him a punishment. Though he was confused as to why he was being trained by the clan leader, he didn't question Dipperstar's authority. In fact, he was quite honored to be battle training with his leader.
He nodded and headed over to the fresh kill pile, selecting a medium-sized sparrow off of the top and gulping it down; though he didn't eat it too fast because it was hard to train with a belly ache.

Dipperstar padded back to the young tom. "If you're ready we'll leave right away," he meowed. It had been some time since he had an apprentice of his own, so he was looking forward to having a different task than usual today. The pale morning light in the sky was growing warmer, though the sun was not up yet. "Let's go. You can tell me what you already know while we walk," he said to Lynxpaw with a smile before he padded to and through the camp entrance, into the grassy landscape outside.

"Pinefur taught me how to scent warriors from other clans, and how to scent the different types of prey we hunt in our territory," replied Lynxpaw licking his chops after finishing the last of his meal. The young apprentice stood up and followed the clan leader out of the camp entrance to the start of the territory. He wondered what they would be working on today, what types of special Sunclan moves could he learn from the clan leader himself? Lynxpaw looked down at his paws as he walked, briefly daydreaming about the ceremony where he would earn his warrior name; he shook his head to clear the thoughts so he could focus on training with his leader.

"That's good," Dipperstar meowed. "If you know the scents of your enemies, you'll find it much easier to use your moves in battle." He picked up the pace to a trott til they reached the training area, where he went to the middle of the field and stod up straight to explain the task. "We'll start with the basics. Come at me as if I were your enemy," he said. "Try to figure out what my weaknesses are, but remember, no claws." He placed his paws further apart and remained defensive as he waited for the Lynxpaw to think through the idea and attack.

Lynxpaw narrowed his eyes, carefully thinking of what moves he could possibly use to knock Dipperstar off of his paws or completely take him by surprise. His bob tail twitched as he thought of what move he could use. Would it be the leap and hold? Or simply diving under Dipperstar and knocking him off his feet. The young apprentice's muscles tensed as he sprang forward towards his clan leader, zig-zagging until he would attempt to dive under Dipperstar's belly and quickly flip onto his back; he would then push hard with his paws to send his temporary mentor into the air. (Not sure if it should be an attempt or not, and I'm not quite sure what moves we would be using. His claws are sheathed by the way) :x

Dipperstar kept his eyes on Lynxpaw with interest. The apprentice seemed to keep his focus, but the black cat saw through the moves and stepped aside just before the final attack. "Nice try!" He eyed the young cat for a moment before speaking some more. "I think this move will be great for you once you've grown a little stronger, but you used too much time to get to me. If you're going to use the zig-zagging in the future, try to confuse me more. If you pretend to use one move before you preform another, you'll catch your opponent of guard." His yellow eyes lit up with a mischevious look. "Now it's my turn. Dodge or block, you decide," he said before aiming at Lynxpaw's head with his paw. He hoped he would understand the idea and follow up with an attack of his own.
