Featherleaf got up from the warriors den and stretched. Today she would show Shadowpaw the territory from the top of the river. Padding over to the apprentice's den she stuck her head in. "Shadowpaw, ready for training?" She called quietly so she wouldn't disturb Talonpaw.

Shadowpaw's large ears shot up at the sound of his mentor's voice, standing up quickly but wincing as he used muscles that should have been stretched before he started moving anymore. He quietly stepped over Talonpaw, not wanting to disturb the other new apprentice; after all he wouldn't want to be woken up before it was time. After he had made his way out of the apprentice den, Shadowpaw luxuriously stretched outside and blinked in the bright light. Turning to his mentor he asked, "Where are we training today? I can't wait!" He used his long tail to flick a piece of moss off of his shoulder and on to the ground

Featherleaf stuck her head out of the apprentice's den so that Shadowpaw could have room to walk out. She looked at the apprentice's eager face and purred. "Today I am going to show you the territory. All apprentice's learn that first." She rounded and headed for the camp entrance. "We better hurry, it always takes all day." She called over her shoulder. She hoped that she was mentoring right. "My first apprentice and I have to be stricted and sure of every thing I do." She thought to herself

Shadowpaw nodded again, "That sounds fantastic!" he exclaimed with his long tail standing straight up. He knew that he would have to work hard to impress his mentor and eventually earn his warrior name for Feartherclan. Shadowpaw, like every apprentice before him, dreamed of being the best Featherclan warrior there ever was. But what would his name be? He shook his head to clear the thoughts and instead focused his attention on the task ahead, he trotted quickly after his mentor towards the camp entrance. "Which part of the territory? Will we meet warriors from another clan?" His tail fluffed up at the very thought, hoping it wouldn't be so until he got some battle training first.

"I plan to start from the top of the territory to the bottom. We'll start with Hollow Trees. That is where I would train you with your battle training." She walked on, remembering what she had learned about that part of the territory. "Right so when you were a kit the warriors always kept you in the camp, do you know why is that?"

My mother told me it was because dangerous things lurk outside the camp walls, things that would hurt me if I didn't listen to what she and all of the warriors told me. She told me that there were badgers and foxes that would love nothing more than to gobble up a small kit like I was." Shadowpaw paused for a moment to scratch an itch on his side before continuing to follow his mentor through the territory, noting all of his surroundings with interest and the fascination that comes with seeing something for the first time with brand new eyes.

Nods. "Ok that was one thing. But another reason being is that you can easily get lost. You see there are four big trees that circle it you go off the trail that guides you ,you can't find your way back. Apprentices and kits are band from going with out a Queen or a Warrior." Featherleaf kept on walking looking at the claw marks that some cats had left.

Shadowpaw trotted after his mentor, but paused first to sniff at the claw marks with interest. "My mother also told me that if I didn't stay in camp then Stormclan cats would gobble me up without a second thought," he paused thinking about it, "But it seems silly now that I'm older and know better, other clans wouldn't eat kits. But it is a rather good way to scare the the kits into staying in camp before they're 'paws and big enough to defend themselves."

"It is a very good excuse for the kits. You know what StormClan would say, for a FeatherClan cat." Featherleaf purred at her mocky tone. She looked at the claw marks on the tree. "The trail to the hollow trees, are these claw marks. They are really easy to follow not to mention make. So when you're lost try to find these claw marked trees."
