Stoneheart buried her mouse under a pile of pine needles. It was nearly sun high now and the heat made her throat parched. She had already caught two more mice and thought it was enough for one hunt. The young warrior headed toward the river, looking forward to a nice drink of cool water. Walking through a couple of bushes she found herself at the waters edge. Here the river had carved out a large puddle where the water was still. This was exactly where she needed to be to make her plan reality, and the time was just right. When she was done the sun would dry her fur. She placed her front paws in the water, but stopped to taste the air. She couldn't scent anyone and carried on. Soon the water reached her belly, then shoulders. Careful not to drift away on the current she pulled her legs up and started paddling. She found it hard to keep her head above the water to begin with and had to put her feet down often, but soon she started to get the hang of it. After a while Stoneheart decided to stop. She was still a very slow swimmer, but at least she didn't sink at once anymore. Carefully the black and white cat med her way to the bank, shaking away as much water as possible. For a terrifying moment she thought she had scented another cat, but then the scent passed. Hoping no one had seen her she started to pad toward where she had buried the mice.
